About

Lisa Goodwin-Allen is best known for being executive chef of the Michelin starred Northcote restaurant. She was also one of four winning chefs on season five of the BBC cooking show Great British Menu.

She began her culinary career working at Holbeck Ghyll on a part-time basis whilst completing a qualification in catering. Later, Lisa worked at Northcote under Nigel Haworth as a demi chef. In 2004 she was named head chef of the restaurant and placed in overall charge of the kitchen, at the age of 23.

In 2018 she retained the Michelin star at Northcote that had been held by Nigel since 1996.

Great British Menu

In 2008 she received the Chef of the Year accolade at the Northern Hospitality Awards. Lisa competed in the fifth season of Great British Menu in the north-west section. She competed against fellow local chefs Johnnie Mountain and Aiden Byrne. Marcus Wareing mentored the group.

She won the round and went through to the final, becoming one of four chefs to cook at a banquet hosted by Prince Charles.

In 2011 the Craft Guild of Chefs, the main professional association for chefs in the UK, named Lisa Goodwin-Allen Restaurant Chef of the Year.

Goodwin-Allen also appeared in series 8 of MasterChef: The Professionals as a mentor for the semi-finalists.

In The Christmas Great British Menu 2020 she won three of the six courses that made it to the final banquet. The dishes were served to NHS and key workers as a thankyou for their tireless work during the COVID-19 pandemic.
