About

Gregg Wallace is one of the most recognisable faces on the UK cookery scene as co-presenter of Masterchef.

Gregg began his career as a greengrocer and farmer, but he harboured bigger business ambitions. In 1989 he set-up the George Allan’s Greengrocers. The business was tremendously successful, building up to an eventual turnover of £7.5 million. Because of his business success, hewas invited to co-present Veg Talk on BBC Radio 4 with Charlie Hicks.

TV Chef

Gregg took his knowledge to television in 2002 as the first presenter on Saturday Kitchen, a role that was taken over by fellow celebrity chef Anthony Worrall Thompson the following year. Gregg presented Veg Out for the Discovery Channel and the award-winning Follow That Tomato for the Food Channel. He landed the biggest gig of his career in 2005 as a co-presenter and judge on Masterchef, alongside John Torode.

He has guest appeared on many popular TV shows such as Room 101, Who Do You Think You Are?, and Would I lie to You?, and was a guest panellist on the BBC Two programme An Extra Slice. He co-presented Harvest 2013, a three-part documentary following the progress of Britain’s harvests, and gave dancing a go as a contestant on the profile-boosting Strictly Come Dancing.

Continuing with his business ventures, in 2010 Gregg opened the restaurant Wallace & Co in Putney, and Gregg’s Bar & Grill, a joint venture with the Bermondsey Square Hotel, in 2012.

Gregg has also applied his knowledge of food to print and regularly writes for Good Food and Olive magazines. The Youtube hit, ‘Buttery Biscuit Base’, featured snippets of Gregg Wallace and John Torode on Masterchef.

Just like George Foreman with his famous grill, Gregg has put his name to a cooking product: the Gregg Wallace Firepit & Grill, which is perfect for outdoor cooking.

He was also an ambassador for Weight Watchers and has appeared in television commercials for the weight-loss brand.
