Toyah Wilcox is a uniquely gifted performer. She went from punk princess to high priestess of television presenting. Charismatic, outspoken and impossible to categorise, she is one of Britain’s iconic household names. Moreover, she’s a rock legend as well as a much-loved actress and music composer.

As a singer she had thirteen top 40 singles and recorded twenty albums, she also presented the television shows; The Good Sex Guide Late, Watchdog and Songs Of Praise. She got a prestigious Honorary Doctorate by the University of Central England, in 2001, in recognition of her distinguished achievements in performing arts, media and broadcasting. Also in 2001, the May issue of Q magazine named Toyah Wilcox number 48 in their top 100 Greatest Women in Music poll.

Toyah has published two bestselling books. Following her 2000 autobiography Living Out Loud, Toyah published a further autobiographical book in 2005, Diary of a Facelift

She has also been heard on the radio in the 2002 BBC Radio 4 series The Further Adventures of Sherlock Holmes. She voiced the widow Fantine in Focus on the Family Radio Theatre’s version of Les Misérables. In December 2006 she joined the radio drama series Silver Street on the BBC Asian Network as Siobhan Brady.

Then in June 2011 Toyah started her special From Sheep Farming To Anthem tour. It elebrated the 30th anniversary of her breakthrough hit “It’s A Mystery” and the platinum-selling album Anthem.

Charity Work & Recognition

Wilcox has also involved herself in a number of charitable efforts. In November 2007 Toyah took on the role of sponsoring the Black Country Urban Park for the Peoples £50M BIG Lottery. Then the following year she took part in the Great Walk To Beijing.

In 2009, Toyah came seventh in a BBC series listing the “Queens of British Pop”.
