Kimberley Walsh is a singer, model and TV presenter.
Girls Aloud
Girls Aloud’s’s debut single “Sound of the Underground” peaked at number one on the UK Singles Chart, becoming the 2002 Christmas number one. The band hold the record for the shortest time between formation and reaching number one.
The group has achieved twenty consecutive top ten singles (including four number ones) in the UK. The British Phonographic Industry have certified 5 of the band’s album as platinum and two went to number one in the UK. The band have accumulated a total of five BRIT Award nominations.
TV Roles
Kimberley participated in the TV series This Is Personal: The hunt for the Yorkshire Ripper as Gillian Oldfield. Then in the same year she starred in a BBC Educational Schools program called Focus. In 2001, Kimberley played Tracy in Dream Back.
Walsh appeared in Let’s Dance for Sport Relief as a panellist. She also fronted coverage of the BAFTA Awards for MTV on her own programme Kimberley Walsh At The BAFTAS in 2010. And then in the summer of 2010, she hosted “Girl In The Blue Jeans”. She also presented coverage for The X Factor live from South Shields on the day of the final in 2009.
Movies
In 2011, Kimberley Walsh starred Prissy Polly in Horrid Henry: The Movie. The film’s plot focuses on Henry and The Purple Hand Gang fighting to prevent the closure of their school by an evil headmaster. It is based on the fictional character Horrid Henry from the children’s book series by Francesca Simon.
Comic Relief
Kimberley climbed Mount Kilimanjaro in aid of Comic Relief in March 2009. The climb, organised by Gary Barlow, was also undertaken by fellow Girls Aloud member Cheryl Fernandez-Versini, Alesha Dixon, Fearne Cotton, Denise Van Outen, Chris Moyles, Ben Shephard, Ronan Keating and Barlow himself.
