About

Offbeat comedian who showed us the wonderfully prosaic world of YouTube user comments.

Adam and Joe

With Joe Cornish, Adam Buxton forms one half of the duo Adam and Joe. The pair presented their own show on BBC Radio 6 Music.

Buxton and Cornish created The Adam and Joe Show for television. It ran for four series on Channel 4.

The Adam and Joe Book, a companion to the show published in 1999, includes a critique of contemporary culture. The book also has bizarre sections, such as dancing tips.

Going solo, Adam presented his own show, Adam Buxton’s Big Mix Tape, also on 6 Music.

Expanded extracts from the pair’s Xfm radio shows have been released as podcasts. The extracts got in the UK’s top 10 most downloaded.

Movies

Adam played the part of Tim Messenger, an irritating local reporter, in Edgar Wright’s Hot Fuzz. He also appeared in the film Stardust, deputizing for Noel Fielding, who was ill at the time of production.

He also played a chemistry teacher in the multi-cultural film (British-French-German) Son of Rambow.

Narration

Adam has narrated some of the titles available on the Ladybird Classic Me Books iPad app, including Goldilocks and the Three Bears, Three Little Pigs and a number of titles by Dublin-based author and illustrator Chris Judge, such as The Great Explorer, The Brave Beast and The Lonely Beast.

Bug

When not presenting or recording podcasts, Adam Buxton hosts Bug, a humorous exploration of music videos through YouTube comments, which also had a televised version in 2012.

TV Appearances

He appeared in the BBC Three comedy sketch show Rush Hour, playing many different characters throughout the show that also starred Miranda Hart and Frankie Boyle.

Adam Buxton has appeared on many television comedy shows, such as Have I Got News for You, Never Mind the Buzzcocks, The IT Crowd, Don’t Watch That, Watch This and Look Around You and as a panellist alongside Jonathan Ross for the Big Fat Quiz of the 80s.
