Luigi Sartini’s culinary journey began in the heart of his family’s kitchen, where the aroma of freshly baked bread and the sight of his grandmother crafting pasta ignited his passion for cooking. Growing up in San Marino amidst a family of bakers and cooks, Luigi was immersed in the rich culinary traditions of Emilia-Romagna from an early age.
Apprenticeship with Masters
Luigi’s culinary apprenticeship commenced with a stage at the Gran Hotel de Bains under the tutelage of chef Gino Angelini. Under the guidance of legendary chef Gualtiero Marchesi in Milan, Luigi honed his skills and developed a penchant for reinventing traditional recipes, breathing new life into forgotten culinary treasures.
A Culinary Vision for San Marino
In 1990, Luigi realized his dream of opening a restaurant in San Marino when he took over the kitchen at Ristorante Righi. Collaborating with Maria Righi, he embarked on a culinary journey to showcase the local cuisine of San Marino, infusing his dishes with a deep respect for local produce and seasonality.
