John Torode is an Australian-British celebrity chef and food writer. He moved to the UK in the 1990s and began working at Conran Group’s restaurants. He first appeared on This Morning, then presented a revamped MasterChef in 2005. John is also is a restaurateur and former owner of the Luxe. He has written a number of cookbooks, including writing some with fellow MasterChef presenter, Gregg Wallace.

John Torode is one of the main chefs to introduce Australasian food to the UK.

He began his career in London and worked at several restaurants including Pont de La Tour, Quaglino’s, and the Bluebird.

TV Chef

John Torode was the resident chef on This Morning for four years before co-presenting Masterchef.

He presented the 2014 series John Torode’s Australia. The 10 episodes retrace the flavours of John Torode’s childhood and the people that inspired his passion for food. The show had the largest viewing figures on BBC Good Food in 2014. Then the following year he presented John Torode’s Argentina as part of the BBC Two series A Cook Abroad, looking specifically at the country’s production, cooking and consumption of beef.

He is dedicated to supporting organic food and farming. His restaurants in London are dedicated to serving top-quality meat and poultry. So he has built relationships with many farmers across the UK who supply the produce to his restaurants.

John was on the judging panel for the Glenfiddich Food and Drink awards in 2002. He also regularly contributes to Olive magazine.

He is an exponent of rare breed meat, organic food and the farming process.
