Raheem Sterling and Skepta Feature in Burberry’s Latest Campaign

Raheem Sterling, a forward for Chelsea and England, and grime icon Skepta join a star-studded cast for Burberry’s most recent campaign, which is focused on “Britishness.”
The British clothing business made headlines over the weekend when they deleted all of their Instagram photos. This action was undoubtedly taken in anticipation of the brand’s impending, updated identity unveiling, which will be the first under the direction of newly recruited Creative Director, Daniel Lee.
Later this month, during London Fashion Week, the campaign, which will officially debut, will focus on and honour some of Britain’s most admired legends, both on and off the field, like Vanessa Redgrave, Shygirl, Lennon Gallagher, and others.
Lee’s idea of “Britishness” is brought to life by Tyrone Lebon, a native of London who has previously collaborated with Lee on advertisements for the Italian luxury brand Bottega Veneta as well as Calvin Klein, Supreme, and Louis Vuitton.
Lebon’s imagery features Trafalgar Square, Tower Bridge, the Houses of Parliament, and Albert Bridge as backdrops, while Sterling and Skepta’s portraits show them holding roses—national England’s flower—and incorporate the brand’s new logo, which was inspired by Burberry’s past—its Equestrian Knight Design, which was first chosen by the public through a competition in 1901. A beautiful fusion of traditional Britishness.
The design has been made simpler by removing the initial wreath that encircled the emblem. It also incorporates the Latin term “Prorsum,” which means “forwards” and is ideal for Sterling. Prior to 2015, the firm consolidated its three sub-brands, Prorsum, London, and Brit, under the Burberry banner. Prior to that time, the ready-to-wear line of the brand was known by the name Prorsum. Lee appears to be refocusing on the fundamental ideas and details that initially distinguished the Basingstoke brand as ground-breaking.
Burberry has previously teamed up with athletes or musicians to serve as the faces of their advertising campaigns. Recently, internationally renowned performers Burna Boy and Shakira wore the well-known check pattern, and in recent years, Marcus Rashford and Son Heung-min have both been given ambassadorial duties.
During London Fashion Week, Lee will present his debut line for Burberry, and we’re crossing our fingers that Sterling and Skepta will be there. Drip images are pending.
