Recognition & Charity Work

A devoted humanitarian, for several decades Ms. Collins has lent her support and celebrity to many charitable causes.

These include finding a cure for breast cancer, empowering children with learning disabilities and patronage of the International Foundation for Children with Learning Disabilities, Fight for Sight and the Shooting Star Children’s Hospice in Great Britain.

She is also the Honorary President of the RADA Associates.

In 1997, Collins became Officer of the Order of the British Empire by Queen Elizabeth II in honour of her contribution to the arts and charity work.

In 2012, Joan appeared in Snicker’s Get Some Nuts ad campaign. The TV clip, previously fronted by Mr T, sees the star transform from her diva persona into male football players, after taking a bite of the chocolate bar; coining the catchphrase, ‘you’re not you when you’re hungry’. It is inspired the US Snickers ‘road trip’ ad fronted by Aretha Franklin and Liza Minnelli.
