About

Paloma Faith, Roksanda Ilincic, Gizzi Erskine and Grace Woodward have teamed up with lingerie brand Triumph to support its Women in Making Campaign.

Dubbed Makers, the women are Ambassadors for the season, each offering a personal insight into how they got to where they are today.

As well as acting as mentors in a series of consumer activities, the celebrity collective are also supporting the launch of the Maison Triumph, a ‘pop-up experiential brand space’ in 7 Dials, London, which is open to the public from September London Fashion Week to January 2014.

Roksanda Ilincic is to become the face of Triumph’s Women in Making campaign.

Drawing on the experience of setting up her global fashion brand, the ELLE Style Award winner will join a panel of four celebrity “makers”, who will champion craftsmanship as part of a series of Maison Triumph pop-up events. The panel will also act as mentors to women in business from various creative disciplines – one of whom will win a £10,000 Triumph bursary.

Speaking to ELLE behind-the-scenes at the Women In Making shoot, Ilincic revealed that she was inspired to get involved in a campaign that celebrates women supporting women. ‘As a female designer in a field perhaps surprisingly dominated by men, this is an area close to my heart and my own experience.’

Ilincic went on to emphasise how important it is for bigger companies like Triumph to help start-ups: ‘I owe a lot to the BFC and many friends in the industry like Lulu Kennedy, for their efforts in consulting and nurturing young designers.’

For Triumph, however, it was undoubtedly Ilinic’s continued obsession with craftsmanship that led them to the designer. ‘I often use hand embroidery, knit, and I work with lots of small specialist mills to produce jaquards and prints’.

But who does Ilincic credit as a mentor? It would seem that when it comes to her biggest supporter and source of inspiration, Mum knows best: ‘she has always acted as my mentor and moral guide.’

The Maison Triumph pop-up is located at 7 Dials, London and will be open to the public from September 2013 until January 2014. The space includes installations, events, inspirational talks and a series of maker workshops. Triumph is the official catwalk lingerie supplier for the British Fashion Council at London Fashion Week.
