American model Amber Valletta is the latest high profile model to work with M&S as she fronts the per una collection ad campaign for the autumn/winter 2012 season. The collection features a military-inspired pea coat, printed frocks, and sleek, mini handbags.
Looks like Rosie Huntington-Whiteley isn’t the only supermodel/actress posing for Marks & Spencer these days. The famed British high-street store has also just added American beauty Amber Valletta to its top model team as the face of the brand’s per una label.
Amber’s fashion and film career and admiration for the British sense of style makes her the perfect ambassador to launch the new season per una collection. The campaign was shot by Swedish photographer Andreas Sjodin whose work is regularly featured in Vogue and Elle.
Valletta commented: ‘It’s a real honour to work with such an iconic British brand like M&S. I’ve loved modelling the per una collection, it’s great to see the quality and attention to detail that has gone into each piece, yet it’s still so reasonable. The idea of affordable luxury is something that’s unique to the British High Street and something that M&S does very well.’
Amber is also seen modelling per una Speziale, a premium selection of luxurious looks with extra special detailing and fabrics. Key winter wardrobe pieces for the new season include the camel-coloured Canto coat, the charcoal grey wool Funnel Neck coat and the Geometric Wrap dress which nods to the autumn’s more ladylike vibe.
Amber’s favourite piece on the shoot was the gothic-inspired black lace blazer, she said: ‘I really like this jacket, I’m kind of a jacket girl. I feel like if you have a great pair of jeans or a great pair of trousers and a cool jacket you can wear anything underneath – it’s timeless.’
The per una campaign also follows the famous covergirl’s most recent campaign for Emilio Pucci’s sultry autumn/winter collection. In a recent press release, M&S Executive Director of Marketing, Steve Sharp, exclaimed, “Amber embodies the classic femininity the per una brand has become renowned and loved for while also being the perfect ambassador to introduce the sleek and sophisticated fresh direction for per una this season.”
Valletta, who started modelling aged 15, has appeared in campaigns for the likes of Versace, Louis Vuitton and Gucci and on the cover of publications such as Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar and W. In recent years she has made the move into acting, appearing in Hitch and Raising Helen.
