Karl-Heinz is a former World Footballer of the Year and one of the greatest strikers in Germany’s footballing history. He was an extremely decorated footballer at both club and international level. He joined German club Bayern Munich in 1974, coming from the Westphalian amateur side Borussia Lippstadt, for a transfer fee of ca. € 10,000.

He soon became an integral player at the club and went onto win the Intercontinental Cup, the European Cup, as well as two league titles and two domestic cups. He is Bayern’s second most prolific goalscorer of all time in league history after Gerd Müller, as well as being the tenth most prolific scorer of all time in Bundesliga history.

A member of the German national team, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge won the 1980 European Championship and was part of the squad that finished runner-up in the 1982 FIFA World Cup and at the 1986 World Cup. Altogether, between 1976 and 1986, Rummenigge amassed 95 caps and scored 45 goals for the German national team, including one in the 1986 FIFA World Cup Final.

Karl-Heinz received a number of honours during his career. He was twice named European Footballer of the Year in 1980 and 1981, German Footballer of the Year in 1980, and World Footballer of the Year also in 1980.

In 1991, Bayern Munich invited Franz Beckenbauer and Rummenigge to return to the club as vice presidents. Rummenigge held this position until 2002, when he was appointed Chairman of Executive Board of the newly corporatised football department of the club.

One of the most respected figures in football, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge is in demand as an after dinner speaker for his football anecdotes and memories. He is also an excellent event host.
