Scottish comedian known for his faultless satirical impressions on shows such as Spitting Image, Rory Bremner, Who Else?, and Mock the Week.

Rory Bremner began to make his mark in the late 80s as an impressionist on the satirical puppet show Spitting Image. He also contributed to the current affairs sketch show Week Ending and the comedy sketch show And There’s More, alongside Jimmy Cricket. Moving to Channel 4, Rory had his own show entitled Rory Bremner, Who Else?.

He has showcased his quick-wit and ability to think on his feet on many improvisational comedy shows such as Whose Line is it Anyway?, and as a team captain for the first two series of Mock the Week.

Bremner, who speaks French and German and studied Russian at O-level, has translated three operas into English and was involved in The Big Brecht Fest at the Young Vic Theatre in London celebrating the work of German dramatist Bertolt Brecht. In 2008 he received the James Joyce Award of the Literary and Historical Society.

His impersonations of politicians and other public figures can be heard on Sunday AM, a show that reviews recent political events and current affairs. He has also presented a BBC Radio 4 series, Rory Bremner’s International Satirists, in which Bremner talks to comedians and impressionists from various European countries.

After five years away from the stand-up circuit, in 2010 Rory started a 20-date Election Battlebus Tour in the run-up to the 2010 UK General Election. In the following year Rory was a contestant for the 2011 series of Strictly Come Dancing, that also included boxer Audley Harrison, football pundit Robbie Savage, and the winner of the series, pop-star Harry Judd.

In 2013 Rory began hosting his new Channel 4 quiz show Face the Clock and presented Rory Goes to Holyrood, a one-off show for BBC Scotland that featured the impressionist in a one-off stand-up routine at Edinburgh’s Assembly Hall.

Rory also starred in a hilarious ad for Bird’s Eye ready meals in which he showcased some new political impressions in the lead-up to the 2015 General Election. He combined the voices of Ed Miliband, David Cameron, Nick Clegg and Nigel Farage in a brand campaign for the frozen food brand entitled ‘Stir Your Senses’.

As one of the country’s top satirical impressionists, Rory was chosen to host the 2015 Paddy Power Political Book Awards that recognises the very best in political writing and publishing. The 2014 event was hosted by Gyles Brandreth.

As an events host, Rory Bremner always leaves the audience smiling with sketches and impressions inspired by the great figures of the past to the upcoming general election.
