About

Nicola is a popular Italian chef who made his name at the Michelin-starred Ristorante Birichin in Turin which opened in 1996, some 15 Years ago and currently is one of Italy’s prominent chefs. In 2010 he went on to open seaside summer pop-up, La Kava, celebrating food from its location on the shores of the Ligurian Sea. Following on from the success of his Turin restaurant, Ristorante Birichin and Nicola decided that it was time to be bringing his simple yet innovative Italian cooking to the UK’s culinary capital.

Recently teaming up with seasoned London restaurateur Paolo Boschi, Restaurant Casa Batavia was launched, making it Batavia’s first UK restaurant.

Located at 135 Kensington Church Street, Casa Batavia is spread over two floors. The ground floor includes a bar and 28 covers, while the first floor will offer private dining for 15 people.

Combined with a wealth of experience in the industry and Chef Batavia’s innovative Italian cooking, Restaurant Casa Batavia transfers its passion and love for Italian food onto its Customers.

Nicola’s inspiration is just great ingredients and simplicity with a menu boasting the best in seasonal produce. At Casa Batavia, he will practise this philosophy with flavoursome dishes including Rabbit Salad Cooked in Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Artichokes and Green Sauce, Linguine with Baby Squid, Wild Fennel and Smoked Ricotta and Chocolate and Amaretto Soufflé with Chilli Truffles and Hot Chocolate Sauce.

Perhaps Nicola Batavia’s biggest achievement to date in his career is organising Nike’s sponsored restaurant for the VIPs during the Beijing Olympic Games and writing his book, ‘Chef & Gourmet’.

His signature dish is ‘Vitello Tonnato.’ – a traditional Italian dish of chilled, sliced veal with a tuna and caper sauce.

Nicola ia also the only italian chef going to the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Nicola Batavia is a rising star and a soon to be global phenomenon.
