JW Anderson collaborates with Nikon

British designer J W Anderson has announced he’s joined forces with Nikon to create a limited edition leather camera bag for the Nikon 1 camera system, taking inspiration from classic 1940s camera cases, available in black, white, blue and orange and featuring his initials.

Anderson commented, “Photography is just as much of an art form as fashion, so the partnership made complete sense to me. Taking pictures is integral to what I do – I take thousands during the creation of a collection – and I have always ensured my designs are accessible for everyone, just as photography is.

“The inspiration behind the bag was that it would have a hint of a 1940s classic, but with a very modern twist, with bold block colours and a totally unisex look.”

Jordi Brinkman, Product Manager for Nikon 1 Compact System Cameras at Nikon Europe, says: “We are delighted to be working with J.W. Anderson.  His style embodies everything Nikon believes in – the highest quality products, cutting edge techniques and accessibility to all audiences.”

Combining traditional leather craftwork with versatile modernity, the bag reflects the mix of technological heritage and cutting-edge design intrinsic to cameras in the Nikon 1 range such as the Nikon 1 S1, Nikon 1 J3 and Nikon 1 V2.  Only 400 of the limited edition bags will be available on the Nikon Store (http://store.nikon.co.uk/) from Monday 17th June 2013. Priced at £85, they come in four colours: black, white, blue and orange.

Born in Northern Ireland in 1984, J.W.Anderson (Jonathan William Anderson) studied menswear at the London College of Fashion, graduating in 2005. The label J.W.Anderson was launched in 2008 with a men’s collection. At the beginning of 2010, JWA launched a capsule collection for women at the behest of fans of the menswear range. The womenswear range quickly achieved critical and commercial success and has been shown on-schedule during London Fashion Week since February 2011. Through his origins in menswear, Anderson continues to explore the relationship between boy and girl, blurring the lines of gender in every collection. Jonathan won the Emerging Talent award at the British Fashion Awards in 2012. He has launched two collections in collaboration with high street retailer Topshop.
