Iggy is an American singer, songwriter, musician, and actor. Though considered an innovator of punk rock, Iggy’s music has encompassed a number of styles over the years, including pop, metal, jazz and blues. Iggy Pop (born James Newell “Jim” Osterberg) became known as ‘Iggy’ in high school, during which time he served as drummer for local blues band The Iguanas. He is vocalist of influential protopunk band The Stooges (Iggy and the other surviving members of the group reunited in 2003), having become known, since the late 1960s, for his outrageous and unpredictable stage antics.

Iggy Pop has recorded a number of well-known songs, including “Lust for Life”, “Real Wild Child”, “Candy” (a duet with Kate Pierson of The B-52’s), “China Girl”, “Nightclubbing”, “Search and Destroy”, and “The Passenger”.

Iggy’s 2003 album Skull Ring featured collaborators Sum 41, Green Day, Peaches, and The Trolls, as well as Ron and Scott Asheton, reuniting the three surviving founding members of The Stooges for the first time since 1974.

He has appeared in sixteen movies, been featured in five television series, been profiled in four rockumentaries and has had songs on eighteen soundtracks.
