About

Mary Murphy has been named spokesperson for Tisanoreica Diet, a herbal weight-loss and management program from Italy, which recently launched in the US.

The international ballroom champion, who features on FOX’s So You Think You Can Dance, says, ‘What I love about Tisanoreica Diet herbal meals is that I never feel deprived on them. I’ve tried other diets in which you’re either feeling famished or tired. As a dancer who must keep physically fit, and now as a dance judge who must stay mentally alert during auditions that can stretch for hours, that’s important to me.’

Founded in 1911, Tisanoreica (pronounced “TEE-sahna-ray-ka”) is a widely known brand in Italy where its herbal health products are found in virtually every household.  The Tisanoreica Diet program is based on the evidence-based, patented “Decottopia” herbal extracts that are based on centuries old formulae developed by the Mech family of Vicenza, Italy and which contain no alcohol, no sugars nor preservatives.

“We’re extremely proud to have Mary Murphy as the face – and figure! – of the Tisanoreica Diet in America,” said Tisanoreica CEO Gianluca Mech. “Mary is the epitome of American grace, beauty and enthusiasm,  and we’re thrilled to have – to use her own words – this ‘hot tamale’ represent our emerging brand in the  U.S.”

Called the “Italian Comfort Food Diet,” Tisanoreica was introduced last month to the U.S. and is currently available for purchase online and in select health spas nationwide.  More than a line of product, the Tisanoreica Diet method is a complete system of integrated weight management targeted at beauty, health and wellness.

Murphy was part of the original guest judge and choreographer pool when season 1 of ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ began in 2005. In 2006, for season 2, she made noticeably more appearances at the judging table than the other choreographers. In 2007, just prior to season 3, it was reported in TV Guide that Murphy would be a permanent judge, a position previously only enjoyed by Nigel Lythgoe.

In 2008, Murphy made guest appearances on international versions of So You Think You Can Dance, including So You Think You Can Dance Australia, So You Think You Can Dance Canada and So You Think You Can Dance Scandinavia.

She has become noted for regularly holding up her hands and screaming enthusiastically as a form of praise, along with giggling constantly during performances she enjoys. Also, Murphy is noted for introducing unique forms of praise, which include calling dancers “Hot Tamales” or issuing them tickets on her “Hot Tamale Train”.

In 2008, Murphy reprised her role as judge on season 4 with fellow regular, Nigel Lythgoe, and on the season finale, performed a surprise samba with Dmitry Chaplin.

Murphy continued as a weekly permanent judge on season 5 and season 6.
