Chris Moyles

Chris is a hugle popular English radio and television presenter and author, most famous for being the presenter of The Chris Moyles Show on BBC Radio 1. He and his team have transformed the breakfast show on the station and increased the audience up to 6.5 million.

Chris joined Radio 1 in 1997 and soon took over the Saturday mid-morning slot. In October 1998 Chris took over the weekday afternoon show and stayed there for 5 years before he took on the flagship morning show. His talents were recognized when he was awarded the Gold Sony Radio Award in 2006 for Best Entertainment Show.

He has also hosted the long running music programme Top of The Pops a few times and done charity work for Comic Relief.

Chris has also entered the celebrity version of The X Factor. The X Factor: Battle of The Stars which raises money for charity featured many stars including Moyles in the ‘Over 25’s’ category.

In October 2006, Moyles released his autbiography – The Gospel According To Chris Moyles.

In 2007 the rugby league team Featherstone Rovers named their ground after him. Traditionally known as Post Office Road, it was renamed via a sponsorship deal as the Chris Moyles Stadium.

Moyles had a part in the BBC One show Hotel Babylon and appeared on Supermarket Sweep with Aled, one of the crew from his radio show.

Chris frequently appears on television having appeared on Top Gear, The Charlotte Church Show, The F-Word, The Friday Night Project, The One Show, Friday Night with Jonathan Ross, Richard & Judy and The New Paul O’Grady Show. In 2009 he launched his own show, Chris Moyles’ Quiz Night for Channel 4.

For Comic Relief, Moyles and his team organised ‘The Red Nose Rallyoke’ which involved them travelling around Britain on a tour-bus for a week, and every night having a karaoke session for which listeners had won tickets. Joining them would be celebrities including Davina McCall, members of Travis, Louis Walsh and Kelly Jones of The Stereophonics. During the morning radio shows, once in a lifetime prizes would be on offer which listeners would enter for by text. These texts were the main fund raising idea for the Rallyoke. In total the Rallyoke raised over £600,000 for charity.

He has achieved various Radio awards, and has helped raise money for charity by taking part in challenges, aired on TV on behalf of Comic Relief. Chris was also voted “Best DJ” by readers of The Sun newspaper and readers of Loaded magazine.

Chris’s friends would often contributed to the Chris Moyles Show, including Rob DJ, and also presenters such as Andi Peters, Davina McCall, Olly Murs,Keith Chegwin, and impressionist Jon Culshaw.
