Eric Cantona and Thierry Henry among stars in Sports Direct’s hilarious new Christmas advert

A number of stars, including Eric Cantona, have starred in Sports Direct’s Christmas adverts to promote their 2022 festive range.
There are three 20-second-long clips in total, which feature the late Manchester United legend, Eric Cantona. Fans will likely have plenty of laughs due to the great plotlines.
Ads feature Sport Direct’s “Give Me Football” campaign, which runs alongside this year’s World Cup in Qatar, which ends just seven days before Christmas.
The campaign, starring soccer stars Thierry Henry, Mason Mount, Declan Rice, Jarrod Bowen, Emma Hayes, Gabriel Jesus, and Clive Tyldesley, was unveiled on Thursday morning in a trio of promotional videos.
The advertisement-Family Dinner- opens with Eric Cantona, Trevor Hames, Alan John Addison, and Jesus Aguilar dining at a Christmas dinner. Cantona presents the main course by jokingly saying, “Give me football. “
To settle the issue, one then asked for Jesus for the salt and it was granted to him on the condition of their opponents agreeing to it. The Arsenal legend, of course, agreed.
Then, out of nowhere, Tyldesley appears from a hole in the table and says, “Oh Jesus has put it on a plate for her!” The advert ends with Henry saying to Cantona, “Eric, can you pass me the…” – but the United legend shuts down the request immediately.
In the second advert, a mum inquires about the weather for their son’s soccer game, to which Eric Cantona responds: “The weather today is perfect for soccer.”
When the mum attempts to reply back to the home assistant device, Cantona shouts, “Football, football, give me football!” The mum then asks her kids, “So… football?” To which the two kids – shown as Rice and Bowen – nod and continue playing the video game.
Rice then jokingly clips Bowen around the ear and the mum tells the ace: “Declan! No!”
During the third and final ad, Mount is dressed as a gladiator from ancient Rome, walking up some stairs toward a pair of Nike football boots.
As he nears the boots, he takes off his gladiator costume and dons the jersey of England.
Eric Cantona then suddenly appears and tells Mount, “Give me football”. He smells the boots and says, “Eau de Football… oh old friend, how I’ve missed you”.
Then, in a light-hearted conclusion, Eric Cantona and Mount face each other before finally allowing themselves to burst into laughter.
Sports Direct announced: “Coming to life as a trio of 20 second adverts, each playful parody reflects on the classic festive themes typically presented on TV screens during the Christmas season, but with a comedic football twist.”
A number of retail outlets released their Christmas advert for 2022 earlier this week. For example, JD released theirs and features world-famous boxers, including Anthony Joshua and seven high-profile football players, such as Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk.
