Jonnie Peacock is a Double Paralympic, World, and European T44 100m Champion. He gained international fame when he won his first Paralympic title at the London 2012 Games and successfully defended his title at the Rio 2016 Paralympics, setting a Paralympic record with a remarkable time of 10.81 seconds in the T44 100m final.
Jonnie’s journey is one of resilience and determination. At just five years old, he contracted Meningitis, which led to an amputation just below his knee. His recovery was nothing short of miraculous, fueled by the fighting spirit that would eventually propel him to become a world-class sprinter. Even after his illness, Jonnie competed against able-bodied children in school races, determined to prove that his disability would not hold him back.
His breakthrough came in 2012, when he participated in his first international race at the Paralympic World Cup in Manchester, where he broke the world record and clinched gold, making it a year to remember.
