Rylan Clark began his career at a young age, working as a part-time model from the age of 16. During his early modelling years, he adopted the stage name “Rylan”. He was also involved in the music scene, performing in Take That and Westlife tribute bands in Ibiza. Additionally, Rylan was a member of the Spanish boy band 4bidden.
Rylan gained national recognition when he auditioned for the ninth series of The X Factor in 2012. Auditioning at The O2 Arena in London, Rylan entertained the judges—Louis Walsh, Gary Barlow, Tulisa, and Rita Ora—with his bubbly personality, before delivering a dance version of Des’ree’s “Kissing You”. His unique personality and performance captivated the audience, setting the stage for his rise to fame.
In 2013, Rylan became a housemate in the eleventh series of Celebrity Big Brother. He was the second celebrity to enter the Big Brother house, where he and jockey Frankie Dettori were tasked with selecting which celebrities would join the House and who would be banished to the Basement.
Rylan went on to win the show, an emotional victory that saw him break down in tears after being crowned winner.
Rylan’s career as a TV presenter flourished in 2013, when he was announced as the new co-host of Big Brother’s Bit on the Side, alongside AJ Odudu, as part of a Channel 5 revamp.
Since 2016, Rylan has hosted his own prime-time chat show for Channel 5, called Up Late with Rylan, further solidifying his presence in British television.
In 2016, Rylan released his autobiography, titled The Life of Rylan. The book was a major success, debuting at No.1 on The Sunday Times Bestsellers List.
