About

Ross Shonhan is a popular chef and the former head chef of the acclaimed Japanese restaurant Zuma in London’s Knightsbridge.

Australian Shonhan moved to London in 2001 and joined Asia de Cuba as senior chef de partie before moving to the Dorchester Hotel as junior sous chef. He then moved to the USA where he worked with Stephan Pyles and in 2005 joined Nobu to oversee the opening of the group’s Dallas restaurant together with Nobu Matsuhisa himself.

In 2007, he was head hunted by Rainer Becker and joined Zuma in Knightsbridge as head chef.

Zuma restaurant prides itself on offering something completely new – a sophisticated twist on the traditional Japanese izakaya style of informal eating and drinking.  The ethos behind Zuma is to deliver an authentic flavour of the east while respecting the traditions of the past

Ross has been quoted as saying; “I’ve seen the successes of both Nobu and Zuma and I would like a piece of that for myself! I am young enough to still have the energy to do it, and old enough to have the maturity to do it.”
