Magdalena Neuner is a retired German professional biathlete, widely regarded as one of the most successful athletes in the sport’s history. She holds the title of the most accomplished woman in Biathlon World Championships and is a two-time Olympic gold medallist. At just 21 years old, she became the youngest Overall World Cup winner in the history of the International Biathlon Union.

Career Highlights

With an impressive 34 World Cup victories, Magdalena ranks second all-time for career wins on the Biathlon World Cup tour. She has won 17 medals in her six World Championship appearances and is a seven-time Junior World Champion. During the 2010 Olympics, she shone on the global stage, securing three medals—two of which were gold. Starting her career at age 16, she joined the German Customs Administration and became a member of the government-funded Customs-Ski-Team. Since clinching three world championship gold medals in 2007, she has been celebrated as one of Germany’s most beloved female athletes. Magdalena was named German Sportswoman of the Year in 2007, 2011, and 2012, the year she retired from competitive biathlon.
