About

Jerry is one of the world’s most famous and recognisable models, best known for her relationship with Rolling Stones front-man Mick Jagger. She is also a successful actress and played a small part in the 1989 film Batman.

She was born into a working class family (Hall’s father, John, was a trucker) and left home at the age of 21 to pursue a modeling career in New York.

Hall was staying at a hostel on the French Riviera when she was discovered sunbathing on a Saint Tropez beach by fashion agent Claude Haddad. She moved to Paris where she shared an apartment with singer Grace Jones (who at that time was also a model) and immersed herself in the Parisian nightlife, often performing risqué cabaret acts in clubs and parties with Jones. Soon after, she moved in with fashion illustrator Antonio Lopez and her modelling career began.

Her trademark long blonde hair and height of six feet quickly made her one of the most visible and photographed models in the industry during that period.

Early success launched Hall into a celebrity social scene that bore a string of highly publicized relationships. She began a secret affair with Jagger while still engaged to fiance Bryan Ferry. As a result, Ferry wrote many songs, such as “Kiss and Tell,” and “Cry, Cry, Cry”. Some believe that Ferry’s album The Bride Stripped Bare was documentation of his feelings about the breakup with Hall.

She has written her autobiography, entitled Jerry Hall’s Tall Tales, published in 1985. In this book, she describes her early life in Mesquite, Texas. She also relates her experiences as a young model, living a fabulous life in Paris.

In 1990 she joined many other guests for Roger Waters’ massive performance of The Wall in Berlin.

Hall was one of the nine judges for the 1999 Whitbread Awards and sided with the majority in the contentious 5-4 decision to award the “Book of the Year” prize to Seamus Heaney’s translation of Beowulf over J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.

In the early 2000s she was noted for her theatrical performance as Mrs. Robinson in The Graduate, including a nude scene on stage.

In 2005, Jerry Hall starred in a new reality series on VH1 called Kept, revolving around her search for a boytoy. The 12 American contestants were asked to transform from boys to refined gentlemen through a series of challenges, and mastering skills like arts, sports, cooking, and fitting into the high society.

Also in 2005, Hall appeared on the West End stage playing Mother Lord in the London revival of Cole Porter’s High Society, and also provided the voice for Sister Penelope in the controversial British cartoon Popetown.

In June 2012, Hall made a one week appearance with David Soul at the Gaiety Theatre, Dublin in a reprise of the Pulitzer Prize nominated play by A.R. Gurney ,”Love Letters”.

In September 2012, Hall was announced as a contestant for the tenth series of the British dance show, Strictly Come Dancing, appearing along with Kimberley Walsh, Denise van Outen, Richard Arnold. Her professional partner being Anton du Beke.
