David Hasselhoff is an American actor, singer, producer, and businessman best known for his iconic roles as Michael Knight in Knight Rider and as lifeguard Mitch Buchannon in Baywatch. Born in 1952, he pursued theatre studies at the California Institute of the Arts, following his initial education at Bates College and Oakland University.

Knight Rider brought Hasselhoff international fame in the 1980s, and he later achieved greater popularity by producing Baywatch, which ran from 1989 until 2001 and expanded to Baywatch Hawaii. During this time, he also enjoyed a music career, particularly in German-speaking countries, where he found success with his album Looking for Freedom. The title track reached number one in Germany and Switzerland, and he famously performed at the Berlin Wall on New Year’s Eve 1989, marking a significant moment in his career.

David expanded his repertoire to include film roles, appearing in movies like Dodgeball (2004), The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie (2004), Click (2006), and Hop (2011). In 1998, he became the first actor to portray Marvel’s Nick Fury in the TV movie Nick Fury: Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. Hasselhoff also explored musical theatre, debuting on Broadway in Jekyll & Hyde in 2000, and later performing in Chicago and The Producers.

In recent years, David has taken part in popular talent shows. He competed on Dancing with the Stars in 2010, served as a judge on America’s Got Talent from 2006 to 2009, and joined Britain’s Got Talent as a judge in 2011. His career continues to blend acting, music, and television appearances, making him a versatile and enduring entertainer.
