Early Career & Breakthrough

David Dickinson’s first significant TV appearance was in a two-part documentary for the BBC, which focused on his preparation for an antiques fair. His expertise in antiques soon led him to appear as a regular expert on This Morning and BBC Two’s The Antiques Show.

In 2006, David made a move to ITV to present the daytime antiques programme Dickinson’s Real Deal. The show, which aired on weekday afternoons, brought a fresh twist to antiques valuation, as participants had the option to sell their items to dealers on the spot or take a gamble by auctioning their goods. The programme became a hit, allowing Dickinson to showcase his expertise and distinctive style.


Guest Appearances

David Dickinson has also explored other television opportunities, including an appearance on the BBC genealogical documentary series Who Do You Think You Are?, which aired in 2006. In this episode, Dickinson traced his family background, discovering relatives in both the UK and Istanbul.

In a lighter moment, Dickinson was involved in a prank on Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway. The duo, disguised with prosthetics and fake accents, duped Dickinson into believing a major incident had occurred during the filming of his new show, Long Lost Treasures. When the prank was revealed, Dickinson humorously exclaimed, “you two have done me up like a kipper!”


Advertising & Endorsements

Aside from his television career, Dickinson has appeared in numerous advertisements. Notably, he starred alongside Emma Bunton, John McEnroe, Tommy Walsh, and Noel Edmonds in a Tesco TV commercial. He has also appeared in adverts for McDonald’s and Costcutter Supermarkets, showcasing his broader appeal as a TV personality and brand ambassador.
