About

Angela Griffin is a versatile British actress and television presenter, known for her roles in some of the UK’s most popular dramas and her engaging presence as a TV host. Angela first gained fame in Emmerdale and as Fiona Middleton on Coronation Street from 1993 to 1998. She then joined the BBC medical drama Holby City, portraying Staff Nurse Jasmine Hopkins, and later appeared in other BBC dramas, including Cutting It and Down to Earth.

Angela’s role as Jasmine Hopkins was part of the original cast of Holby City, a series set in the same fictional hospital as Casualty, which often included crossover characters and plotlines. The show’s popularity even led to a 2007 spin-off police procedural, HolbyBlue.

Beyond acting, Angela is an experienced presenter. In 1999, she hosted The Midweek National Lottery and co-hosted the BBC’s millennium programme on New Year’s Eve. She explored issues of mixed-race identity in British society in a 2001 Channel 4 documentary, interviewing notable British mixed-race figures such as designer Bruce Oldfield and writer Hanif Kureishi. Angela also co-hosted Sky1’s Golden Globes red carpet coverage in 2010 and fronted her own daytime show, Angela and Friends, a blend of health tips, celebrity news, and more, which aired from November 2009 to July 2010.

In addition to her UK work, Angela took on an international role in October 2018 as detective Stevie Hall in the Canadian drama The Detail. More recently, she began hosting Unwinds on BBC Radio 2 in August 2021, further showcasing her versatility as both an actress and a presenter.
