Alex Scott’s football journey began at the age of eight when she signed with Arsenal in 1992. Starting as a striker or right winger, Scott was later converted to a full-back, a position in which she became widely recognized for her skill and contributions. She remained with Arsenal until the 2004–05 season, when she transferred to Birmingham City. Her presence in the team helped secure a fourth-place finish in the FA Women’s Premier League National Division.
Scott rejoined Arsenal and played a pivotal role in the club’s “Quadruple” season, where they won all major domestic trophies, including the FA Women’s Premier League, FA Women’s Cup, and the 2006–07 UEFA Women’s Cup. Arsenal became the first British team to win this prestigious competition, with Scott scoring the decisive goal in the two-legged final against Umeå IK. Over the season, she made 40 appearances, scoring four goals, including two in the Premier League.
Alex Scott made her international debut for England in 2004, marking the beginning of an impressive international career. She represented England in several editions of the UEFA Women’s Championship, including 2005, 2009, 2013, and 2017, as well as the FIFA Women’s World Cups in 2007, 2011, and 2015. After retiring from professional football in 2017, Alex Scott shifted her focus to sports broadcasting. She became a regular co-presenter on Match of the Day Kickabout and gained further recognition as the first female football pundit at the 2018 FIFA World Cup for the BBC, a groundbreaking moment in sports media. Scott continued her punditry career by covering the Premier League and joined the Sky Sports Super Sunday team in August 2018, making her the first female pundit on the platform.
In 2019, she co-hosted Sky Sports’ Goals on Sunday with Chris Kamara and continued to make her mark in broadcasting. Scott also became a key presenter for the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Awards and frequently appeared as a guest presenter on The One Show.
