Jason Mark Robinson, born on 24 March 1965 in Lichfield, Staffordshire, is a former English cricketer known for his role as a right-handed batsman and wicketkeeper. Robinson’s cricketing journey spans decades, from his early days representing England at youth levels to his later contributions to club cricket and cricket administration.
Robinson began his cricketing journey at a young age, representing England Under-15s and Under-19s, as well as the MCC Schools. His talent was quickly recognized, and he was contracted to Warwickshire County Cricket Club in 1983, marking the start of his professional career.
In 1992, Robinson made his debut in County Cricket for Herefordshire in the Minor Counties Championship. That same year, he played additional matches for the county and represented them in the MCCA Knockout Trophy. His next major milestone came in 1999 when he represented the Worcestershire Cricket Board in a List A match against the Kent Cricket Board during the NatWest Trophy.
Robinson was a key figure in club cricket, where he played for various clubs in the Birmingham Premier League, including Moseley, Dudley, Smethwick, and most notably Old Hill Cricket Club. His time with Old Hill was particularly successful, with the club winning the National Club Championship in 1984, 1985, 1987, and 1993. Even after retiring from playing, Robinson remains active in the cricket world. He currently serves as a board director of Sussex County Cricket Club, where he contributes to the administration and management of the club’s affairs. In February 2020, Robinson was named to represent England’s squad for the Over-50s Cricket World Cup in South Africa. However, the tournament was ultimately canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
