PrettyLittleThing announces Love Island star Gemma Owen as latest brand ambassador
At the beginning of August, Gemma Owen, daughter of England football star Michael Owen, finished second with boyfriend Luca Bish on Love Island.
As part of her deal with PrettyLittleThing (PLT), she follows former Love Island star Molly-Mae Hague, who is now the fashion outlet’s creative director.
This year’s celebrity version of Project Runway has taken a step away from connections to clothing brands and fast fashion. Instead, the celebrity version has announced a partnership with eBay.
Speaking about the partnership, Gemma Owen said it was a “dream come true”, while PLT chief executive Umar Kamani said she was the perfect person to represent the retailer as someone who is “smart, confident, ambitious” with a “much loved, relatable style”.
This comes following scrutiny over their previous failures in sustainable practice. Past retailer PLT has recently announced their launch of a pre-owned resale app, which will allow users to purchase and trade their old pieces, both from PLT and others.
Gemma Owen and the company will partner for one year, the company said.
Ekin-Su Culculoglu and Davide Sanclimenti were crowned this year’s winners on Love Island in Majorca.
The show will air in two series in 2023 – a winter series in South Africa and a summer series in Majorca.
